ZAMBOANGA CITY - A 78-year-old man and his 17-year-old grandson were gunned down in broad daylight here on Tuesday, June 17.
The victims were identified as Rolando Tumambid, 78, and his grandson Marjon Bergino, 17.
Investigation disclosed that they were returning home on their motorcycle after a trip to photocopy the septuagenarian’s senior ID card when they were ambushed by unidentified assailants.
Witnesses reported hearing repeated gunshots which later turned out to be from an M16 rifle.
Twelve empty shells were recovered from the crime scene during investigation.
The suspects fled the area immediately after the shooting.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine what prompted the attack and identify the gunmen.
