The Seoul Metropolitan Government has appointed K-pop groups ENHYPEN and Hearts2Hearts, and five others as honorary ambassadors to promote the city.
Besides ENHYPEN and Hearts2Hearts, also appointed were actor Kim Suk-hoon, YouTuber Park We, pianist Yekwon Sunwoo, actress Song Ji-eun, and broadcaster Eom Ji-yoon.
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon led the appointment ceremony held on June 17 at the Seoul Metropolitan Government building. He presented the appointment plaques to the honorary ambassadors.
I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of tens of millions of Seoul citizens for the willingness of those who have become shining stars in various fields such as art, broadcasting, and entertainment to be appointed as Seoul's public relations ambassadors. I hope that this will serve as a good foundation for Seoul, the heart of the Republic of Korea and the capital, to become a city that people want to visit and live in, said Mayor Oh.
In the future, Seoul City plans to promote Seoul's attractive content regardless of the field, including culture and the arts, through collaboration with the new PR ambassadors, and to further increase the city's brand value and to carry out public relations activities from various angles so that Seoul can become more competitive as an international city.
In particular, wide-ranging public relations activities are expected during the two-year term based on each PR ambassador's specialty and interest.
The seven honorary ambassadors are recognized domestically and internationally in various fields such as K-pop, music, arts, and broadcasting, and were selected as people who can represent Seoul's cultural diversity and creativity.
The appointment is part of Seoul’s ongoing efforts to promote the diverse charms of Seoul both domestically and internationally and to enhance the brand value of Seoul as a global city.
“The charm of Seoul that we feel in our daily lives, such as the place where we started music and the places where we met Engene (fandom name), is endless. We will work hard so that many people around the world can love Seoul as much as K-pop,” said ENHYPEN.
The mayor said, “As Seoul grows into a cultural city loved by people all over the world, it is a great help that talented people in various fields, led by ENHYPEN, are serving as Seoul’s public relations ambassadors. I am happy that we can create meaningful activities with them to convey Seoul’s charm to the world.”
