A fisherman who went missing during a fishing expedition off Romblon’s waters was rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday, June 16.
Romeo Uyao was aboard his fishing boat “MBCA Rai Rai” on June 15 when the rocker arm of his vessel malfunctioned, causing it to drift in the vicinity waters of Barangay Poblacion in Magdiwang town.
According to Uyao, the engine of his boat stopped working while he was off Barangay Agbudia, some 2,600 nautical miles from Barangay Poblacion's coastal waters.
The incident was reported to the PCG when he failed to return home.
Fortunately, Uyao clung to his boat long enough until he was found by personnel of the Coast Guard Sub-Station Magdiwang search and rescue team.
Uyao and his boat were escorted by the PCG back to Magdiwang.
