Man arrested for attempted homicide, illegal possession of firearm in Pasay City

A drunken man who threatened to kill an e-trike driver was arrested by members of the Pasay City Police Station two hours after the incident on June 16.

Col. Joselito De Sesto, Pasay City Police chief, said the suspect, identified as Islao, 50, was arrested at around 6:30 a.m. in his house on F. Victor St., Pasay City.

De Sesto said the victim, Onnie, 36, an e-trike driver, reported the incident to Pasay City Police Substation 2 and filed a complaint, claiming that he was standing near his home on F. Victor St., Pasay City, at around 2:30 a.m. when he was approached by Islao who was armed with a .38 caliber revolver and visibly drunk, and threatened to kill him.

Onnie, fearing for his life, managed to push the suspect and hit him in the head with a bottle of Red Horse Beer. Islao tried to shoot the victim but missed.

The city police chief said Onnie immediately ran and was able to seek refuge at a neighbor's house.

De Sesto said that Onnie immediately went home and, together with his family, went to Pasay City Police Substation 2 and filed a complaint against the suspect.

He said a follow-up operation was immediately conducted, leading to the arrest of Islao and in the confiscation of a .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunition.

The suspect was immediately detained at the Pasay City Police custodial after his arrest and was charged with attempted homicide and violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
