LPA, easterlies to bring rain showers over Metro Manila, other parts of Luzon — PAGASA

A Low-Pressure Area (LPA) and the easterlies are expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over several areas in Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, June 17.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
However, there remains a high chance of rainfall in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Bicol Region, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, and Bulacan from noon until evening.
Badrina added that the weather system is moving west-northwest and may dissipate later in the day.
As of 8 a.m., the LPA was 70 kilometers east-southeast of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Isabela, Quirino, and Aurora.
In the Visayas and Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected due to the easterlies.
The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms.
