GOSSIP GIRL: Pinoy stars to rock England in August

UNITED KINGDOM - I am here right now in England because I was invited to be the main artist for several barrio fiestas. The first was last June 7 at Yorkshire, June 8 at Derbyshire, and just last Sunday, June 15, at Milton Keynes.
When Filipinos organize an event in a particular area, everyone comes to support it. This is the reason why BINI, Piolo Pascual, Sofronio Vasquez (The Voice USA Champion), Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Donnie Pangilinan, James Reid, Paulo Avelino, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcacid, Morisette, Yeng Constantino, Maymay, Kyle Echarri, Darren Espanto, Joshua Garcia, Belle Mariano, Donny Pangilinan, Bamboo, and dozens of other artists are coming to Birmingham, United Kingdom for the ASAP England on Aug. 30.

Last weekend was an overwhelming experience for me, as approximately a thousand Filipinos flocked to Milton Keynes for the Barrio Fiesta. It was like Coachella in the United States, but this time around, it was Pinoy Style, as different races came together to share barbecue, pansit, and dinuguan with fellow Filipinos.
The week before, Filipinos flocked to the Yorkshire and Derbyshire Barrio Fiestas, despite the rains and cold, windy weather, with temperatures reaching 10 degrees when the winds and showers combined. I am thankful to God for both shows because when it was my turn to perform, the rains would stop, the sun would come out, and when the sun came out, people would come out of their tents to watch.
As a singer and stand-up comedienne, the audience is very vital to me. My bilingual comedy set worked for me as the Filipinos brought their British husbands and friends. Seeing first-generation Filipinos, Gen X, millennials, and Gen Alphas all together laughing and enjoying the show was the best gift I could have received as a stand-up comedianne and singer. 
I want to use this column to send my special thanks to the Yorkshire Maharlika Club for organizing all the shows for me, Lt express Padala, and Ali Hajj of World Travellers who gave a three day two night accommodation at La Carmela Boracay for the raffle winners in both barrio fiestas at DerbyShire and Yorkshire.
