CAMP Tirso Gador, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Fifteen packs of suspected shabu were discovered in the sea between Babuyan Island and Gonzaga, Cagayan on Tuesday, June 17.
Police have retrieved the contraband discovered by a fisherman.
These were placed in a white sack and each pack had transparent plastic packaging. Also recovered inside the sack was suspected shabu with destroyed transparent packaging.
The illegal drug weighed a kilo each, with a total weight of 15 kilograms and valued at P102 million.
Also recovered the same day were packs of suspected shabu in the sea between Camiguin Island and Cape Engaño, Barangay San Vicente, Santa Ana.
These were labeled with the number 66 with Chinese characters and Freeso-dried Durien marking.
Police Col. Mardito G. Anguluan, Cagayan police director, said they will be turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 2 for evaluation and documentation.
Police attributed the discovery to Project SPIES (Strengthening Port Interdiction to Enhance Security) that monitors the presence of illegal drugs in the province.
“The successful recoveries of these suspected shabu are the result of the strong cooperation of the fisherfolks and the local officials. Through the Project SPIES, we are united to stop the proliferation of this illegal drug in the province,” Anguluan said.
