Mayor Lani Cayetano and Education Sec. Sonny Angara visited schools in Taguig on Monday, June 16.
The two officials went to the Tenement Elementary School in Barangay Western Bicutan to welcome students and teachers.
The Tenement Elementary School ranked No. 5 in elementary schools with the biggest enrollment in the National Capital Region (NCR).
In a statement, the Taguig City government and the Department of Education Schools Division of Taguig-Pateros said the opening of classes in Taguig was smooth.
They said more than 181,000 students in 52 public schools in Taguig have enrolled this year.
Before the official opening of classes, a soft opening was held in Taguig on June 13 during which free school supplies and uniforms were distributed to students.
Cayetano visited several schools, including Fort Bonifacio Elementary School (Barangay West Rembo), Ususan Elementary School (Barangay Ususan), and Taguig Science High School (Barangay San Miguel) to greet the students.
