ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Four individuals were injured in an explosion that rocked a gasoline station in Barangay Matibay, Lamitan City, Basilan province on Tuesday afternoon, June 17.
Victims were identified as Gunong Reyyan, 20, a student; Mut-ab Muntasil Gunong, 23, gas station attendant; Naim Lamla Tomas, 30, a gas station attendant; and Jamil Mataud Mahmud, 45, a construction worker.
The injured were brought to the Lamitan District Hospital before being transferred to Zamboanga City.
Abubakar Gunong, owner of the AG Gas Station, reported to the police that the explosion occured at 3:40 p.m.
The Basilan Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit conducted a post-explosion probe and found remnants of a grenade fragmentation device.
Investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the incident.
