Students in at least two public schools in the province of Bulacan had to wade in floodwaters when classes opened on Monday, June 16.

At least five classrooms in Frances Elementary School remained submerged in floodwaters due to the recent rains and high tide. Parts of the school's ceiling were also damaged.
For the safety of the students, a temporary bridge was built to enable them to cross to the school.
Meanwhile, the Dona Damiana De Leon Macam Memorial Elementary School (DDDMMES) in Cabu Street, Purok 4, in Barangay San Miguel, also in Calumpit remained flooded. The school's almost 25 classrooms remained submerged in knee-deep water.

Teachers said most of the classrooms cannot be used by students, prompting them to implement shifting schedules for students.
The water level in the area continued to rise but was expected to go down in the evening.
