Mayor Jeannie personally accompanied some students to their classroom on Monday, June 16.
Sandoval, along with Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Cecille Carandang and Assistant SDO Superintendent Dr. Rustica Lorenzo, CESE, visited the MES to assess the situation and ensure that students were safe and comfortable on their first day in school.
She noted that the day marked more than just the beginning of classes, it stood as a reminder that the youth are the hope of the nation.
“At ano ang susi sa pag-asa na yan? Ang edukasyon. Binibigyan natin ng pagpapahalaga ang edukasyon dahil ito po ang siyang magbibigay po ng ating mga pangarap na matupad hindi lang para sa inyong mga bata kundi pati na rin sa ating mga pamilya. At siya na rin po ang magbibigay ng karangalan sa atin pong bayan (And what is the key to that hope? Education. We value education because it is what will help turn dreams into reality, not only for the children, but also for their families. It is also what will bring honor to our community),” Sandoval added.
The mayor also said that personnel from the Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO) were deployed in the city to maintain order and manage traffic flow near schools.
“Today, we are also prioritizing peace and order, not just around school zones, but throughout the entire city of Malabon,” the mayor said.
“Ngayon po ay nagkakaroon din ng hamon sa ating mga traffic, at syempre po sa pagpasok ng mga kabataan sa eskwelahan. Nais po natin mabigyan sila ng kasiguruhan hindi lang po sa kapaligiran ng ating eskwelahan, kundi mabigyan din ng kaginhawaan ang ating mga kabataan at mga magulang na papasok dito sa ating paaralan (Amid current challenges in traffic and the increased movement of students returning to school, the local government aims to provide a safe and comfortable environment not just within school surroundings but also along routes taken by students and parents. The goal is to ensure both security and convenience for everyone heading to our schools),” Sandoval added.
Meanwhile, Carandang expressed her appreciation to the city government for its continued support for education.
“Welcome back to school! Excited na ang mga teachers niyo na kayo ay makasalamuha at maturuan ng mga magagandang asal (Welcome back to school! Your teachers are excited to interact with you and teach you good values),” Carandang said.
“Ang hangarin namin ay patuloy ninyong maabot ang inyong mga pangarap at sa pag-abot na yan, kasama natin ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay, una ang inyong pamilya, ang mga guro, at lahat ng naka suporta sa inyo. Kami ay nasa likod ng inyong mga pangarap (The goal is for you to continue reaching your dreams, and in that journey, your loved ones—especially your family, teachers, and everyone supporting you—are with you. The local government stands firmly behind your aspirations),” she added.
Sandoval provided hot meals to students and teachers and personally accompanied some children to their classrooms.
She also reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to strengthening education, highlighting that programs and services will continue to focus on nurturing and empowering the youth of Malabon.
