BACOLOD CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) chief, backed the five-minute response time for police assistance set by the national headquarters.
In a media interview on Monday, June 16, at the Bacolod City Police Office, Ibay said that NIR personnel will do everything to comply with the directive of PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.
Ibay noted the significance of the deployment of policemen outside police stations for increased visibility.
Torre held a command conference with Ibay and other PRO-NIR officers over the weekend in his command visit last week.
Ibay said that there was no particular instruction from Torre for the NIR police force, but only reiterated his instruction to comply with immediate police response.
“We were told to respond immediately as needed,” said Ibay who asked for additional personnel for NIR to boost compliance.
The Bacolod City Police Office and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office assured compliance with the directive, stressing that they have been long aiming for this as part of their crime prevention measures.
