CEBU CITY – Three persons were arrested when anti-narcotics agents raided a suspected drug den in a barangay in Mandaue City that was previously declared as drug-cleared.
The raid conducted over the weekend led to the arrest of 37-year-old Jay-r, the alleged maintainer of the drug den in Barangay Subangdaku.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7), said Jay-r was arrested in 2013 for illegal drugs but was released through plea bargaining agreement.
Also arrested were two drug den visitors Alquen, 45, and Robert, 21.
Alquen was arrested in 2015 for illegal drugs. He was released through probation, Alcantara disclosed.
Confiscated during the operation were 16 packs containing 16 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P108,800, Alcantara added.
Although Barangay Subangdaku has been declared as a drug-cleared area, it is still being closely monitored for possible illegal drug activities, Alcantara said.
“To ensure that drug-cleared barangays are able to maintain their status, vigilance and proactive efforts of the community and the sustained conduct of anti-illegal drug operations are crucial,” said Alcantara.
