Navotas lone district Rep. Toby Tiangco, chairman of House Information and Communications Technology, is backing the E-Governance Act that, if signed into law, will streamline government processes and establish a unified national framework for digital governance.
It’s time we pivot to a digitally empowered government, especially as ICT now drives governance, economies, and societies worldwide, he said as he stressed that the measure will expedite the country's digital shift and promote a more efficient and responsive government.
Tiangco explained that the measure will establish an Integrated Government Network (IGN), a system that will interconnect government websites and applications for a more holistic approach to digital transformation.
An integrated government network will not only simplify and speed up services, it will reshape how we govern, he said.
Tiangco said the E-Governance Act will also promote transparency and accountability while also curbing corruption.
With digital records being readily available, government processes will be more transparent, allowing our kababayans to track information and hold agencies accountable, he said.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will lead the implementation and guide all government agencies on adopting uniform technical and information standards to ensure seamless digital integration.
President Marcos’ marching orders are clear—we must build a Bagong Pilipinas that is globally competitive and empowers Filipinos. Streamlining digital transformation in government is a crucial step toward that goal, Tiangco said.
