Kids open up about the little and big ways their dads make life better every day
This Father’s Day, we asked children to share, in their own words, why they love their dads. From snack time to homework help and ending the day with bedtime stories, their heartwarming answers are full of love and laughter. For our little ones, it’s these simple moments that matter most. Because at the end of the day, it’s the little things that truly last.
Noah with his dad, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora
What I love most about my dad is how hardworking and goal-oriented he is. Nothing can stop him when he sets his mind to something. His work ethic inspires our family every day and reminds us that good things don’t come easy—you have to earn them. Even though he’s a public servant and his schedule is really busy, he still makes time for us. Seeing him serve the city with kindness and respect makes me want to be a better person in my own way, especially in how I treat others in our community. To me, my dad is like Superman.—Noah Zamora, 12, with San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora
Rocio and Luccia with dad Robby Goco, executive chef and restaurateur–research and development for Cyma, Souv By Cyma, Elaia By Cyma, Rob’s, and Cangrejos Locos
My dad is an executive chef, and what I love most about him is that he cooks for me every day. If I ask for a special dish like carbonara, watermelon sinigang, or anything else, he always makes it a point to prepare it, and we enjoy it together. I also love that he tells me stories every night before I go to sleep. It’s something I always look forward to.—Rocio, 11
My dad makes an effort to always help me with my homework by adding stories to make me understand the topic better. The best part is that I always end up getting a good grade because of his help and encouragement. We celebrate all these small victories by cooking our favorite meals or going to our favorite restaurants. He also checks up on me every night to make sure I'm always comfortable.—Luccia, 15
William and Tara with mom Tiffany and dad, Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie Gatchalian
We love our daddy, because he always tries to spend time with us despite his busy schedule. He plays golf with us, brings us to exciting places, and brings us to his work so we can see what he does and learn about how other people live. He is not just our superhero, he is also our inspiration in so many ways.—William, 11, and Tara, 9, with mom Tiffany and Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie Gatchalian
Raphael and Gavin with dad VR del Rosario, president of Viva Foods, Inc.
I love that my dad cares for people. He works really hard, but he always makes time for us. We always feel his love. He does a lot of things for us despite his busy schedule. He helps me with math and other homework. He’s the best tutor! He’s also the best hugger!—Raphael, 10
He always does his best to help me become the best version of myself. He’s taught me how to avoid certain pitfalls and how to manage different aspects of my life. I’m truly grateful that he makes time to bring me to my chess and jiu-jitsu competitions. He supports me in pursuing my passions and always encourages me. It means so much when he takes time out of his day to watch me play a chess game, even though it might seem boring to most people. I’m incredibly thankful to have a dad who truly values spending time with me and my brother.—Gavin, 16
