Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, together with her husband Makati City 2nd District Rep. Luis Campos and other city officials, attend the opening of the Makatizen Card Center at the City Hall.
The Makati City government has formally opened its newest Makatizen Card Center, designed to streamline the distribution of social and medical services to Makatizens.
Located at the ground floor of the Makati City Hall Main Building, the card center offers the following Makatizen Card services: assistance for online application, assistance for virtual card generation, card replacement, Makatizen Card inquiries/follow-ups, and card releasing.
Launched in 2017, the Makatizen Card functions as a valid government-issued ID card that consolidates all city-provided health and social benefits for residents and city employees while providing convenient access to the cashless ecosystem.
To date, the benefits of the Blu Card and PWD Card have been fully integrated in the card. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWD) are now able to use their virtual Makatizen Card to avail themselves of the free movie viewing in partner-cinemas in the city.
Senior citizens under the Blu Card program also receive their cash gifts through their Makatizen Card’s GCash app.
“For the convenience of city residents and other qualified individuals, we have established a dedicated facility at City Hall for all transactions related to the Makatizen Card. It will serve as a one-stop shop catering to specific needs of existing cardholders and new applicants,” Binay said.
According to her, the one-stop-shop will reduce the need for multiple visits to the City Hall since all relevant concerns can be addressed in just one visit.
The facility aims to make the application process less burdensome, especially to senior citizens and PWDs, by catering to every possible concern or need in connection with the Makatizen Card,” Binay said.
The vision of a unified benefits card started when Mayor Abby saw the inconvenience and redundancy of having multiple cards to access the various benefits and social programs of the city. This became her primary mission to unify all city government-issued cards and consolidate all functionalities into a single card, both in physical and virtual formats.
From January to May 2025, a total of 16,977 applications for Makatizen Card were recorded. To date, around 9,092 Makatizen Cards have been released during the same period.
For 2024, a total of 53,305 virtual Makatizen Cards have been generated through the city’s Information and Communication Technology Office.
Makati’s first digital public-private partnership (PPP) initiative was launched in collaboration with Globe Telecom, its subsidiary G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), and iBayad Online Ventures, Inc.
