Over 500 cops to be deployed for class opening in Negros Occidental
POLICE will be deployed to secure students in Negros Occidental on June 16.
BACOLOD CITY – More than 500 personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office will be deployed in the province to ensure the safety of students during class opening on June 16.
Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said that police assistance desks will be established and foot and mobile patrol will be conducted to increase police presence in schools.
“This is purposely for crime prevention and we are annually preparing this as part of our integrated patrol deployment plan,” he added.
He said that at least two policemen will man the assistance desks in shifting schedules. He added that they will come from police stations in every municipality.
Catalogo said that during a meeting with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson on Thursday, he emphasized the need to strengthen police presence in schools for the safety of students, parents, and teachers.
Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City police director, said that they will maximize all their personnel here, aligned with the program of PNP chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III. We will stick to it, as all schools will be covered in patrolling,” he added.
Police Lt. Col. Lester Leada, deputy city director for operations of BCPO, said that they will focus their security plan on mobile and beat patrol in schools, in relation to the five-minute response time set by the national headquarters for any police assistance.
He added that force multipliers in barangays here will also be tapped to assist policemen in securing schools.
