Korean legal drama 'Law and The City' to premiere on Disney+
The new Korean legal drama “Law and The City” about overworked and underappreciated legal professionals in Seoul will be coming to Disney+ on July 5.
Tucked away from the bright lights of Gangnam and the party scene of Hongdae lies Seocho, a bustling legal district home to lawyers struggling to reconcile their past ambitions with their present reality.
The 12-episode “Law and The City” stars Lee Jong-suk as brilliant and burned out lawyer Ahn Juhyeong, and Moon Ga-young as Kang Huiji, an ambitious new lawyer not yet ground-down by the realities of the profession.
The series, which also stars Kang You-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Im Seong-jae, is directed by Park Seung-woo, written by Lee Seung-hyeon, a practicing lawyer, and produced by CJ ENM Studios under CJ ENM.
“Law and The City” tells the story of ninth-year associate Ahn Juhyeong, a competent lawyer who’s mastered his craft but who’s too comfortable to take the next step in his career.
Jaded from fighting for clients who don’t always align with his moral principles, he is shocked when Huiji, a bright and ambitious newly qualified lawyer joins the firm and reminds him of what he used to aspire to.
“Law and The City” is the latest to be announced as part of an eagerly anticipated slate of upcoming Korean content set to arrive on Disney+. Fans can also look forward to “Original Delusion” (working title), about a vampire in mourning; “Low Life” about backstabbing degenerates desperate to recover a life-changing treasure; and “Tempest” about a diplomat and a special agent racing to uncover the truth behind an attack that threatens the stability of the Korean peninsula.
