'I Heart PH' Marks Season 10 with new adventures in Hong Kong and beyond
Award-winning lifestyle and travel show 'I Heart PH' is marking a major milestone this year as it returns for its 10th season with a renewed commitment to showcase Filipino travel aspirations, this time, with the full support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).
The collaboration was formally launched at Novotel Manila Araneta City, where host Valerie Tan and HKTB Regional Director Liew Chian Jia shared highlights of the show’s latest overseas features and teased what’s in store for viewers this season.
Fresh off its win at the 38th PMPC Star Awards for Television for Best Lifestyle and Travel Show, 'I Heart PH' is now the first Philippine TV program to spotlight Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th Anniversary celebration, billed as "The Most Magical Party of All."
“This partnership presents a unique opportunity to showcase Hong Kong’s cultural, culinary, and natural wonders to Filipino audiences,” said Liew. “We surpassed 1.2 million Filipino arrivals in 2024, and we’re excited to welcome even more visitors by highlighting immersive experiences that go beyond traditional tourist trails.”
Valerie herself experienced this firsthand. Among her many Hong Kong adventures was climbing a 14-meter bun tower during the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, a local tradition held every May that also features parades of children dressed as deities or celebrities. She also explored Hong Kong's culinary heritage by tasting exclusive dishes at Tim Ho Wan’s original location and making shrimp dumplings alongside one of the restaurant’s pioneering chefs.
Her travels took her through the bustling Temple Street Night Market where she indulged in crispy waffles and fresh egg tarts. Then, she visited more serene locales such as the Tai O Fishing Village and Saikung’s volcanic rock sites, which highlight the city’s lesser-known but stunning natural beauty.
Valerie's favorite moment? Meeting the panda twins at Ocean Park. “They were just lounging around and munching and adorable!" she shared. “I hope to be back for their birthday in August!”
In a candid Q&A, the lovely host reflected on the show's evolution: “We launched pre-pandemic, and never expected to make it to ten seasons. Now, it's validation of our hard work and a sign that viewers continue to connect with our stories.”
She also noted how the program remains distinct amid the rise of digital content: “We don’t see content creators as competitors. We all share the goal of encouraging people to travel. What sets 'I Heart PH' apart is our team’s in-depth research, long-form storytelling, and commitment to substance.”
HKTB’s CJ Liew echoed the importance of featuring “hidden alleys, 100-year-old cafés, cultural workshops, and nature escapes” as new reasons to revisit Hong Kong. She also pointed out a rise in interest from Filipino travelers in immersive and wellness-focused experiences. These include learning to make dim sum, trekking through green spaces (which make up 40 percent of the city), and attending world-class music festivals, such as the Blackpink concert at the newly opened Kai Tak Stadium.
Valerie's hosting journey remains grounded in purpose. “Travel reminds me of how vast the world is, and how similar we all are. We want to love and be loved,” she said. What are her essentials when traveling? “A power bank, a toothbrush - because I love to try food and freshen up - and a secure bag with locks.”
As 'I Heart' kicks off its 10th season, it will celebrate with the I RUN PH Fun Run happening on July 13 at UP Diliman. The show airs Sundays at 10:30 a.m. on GTV and continues to highlight destinations both domestic and international, all seen through a uniquely Filipino lens.
“I’m just grateful,” said Valerie. “This show gave me a platform to grow and share, and now with Hong Kong as our partner, we’re ready to bring even more unforgettable journeys to Filipino homes.”
Produced by TV8 Media Productions, 'I Heart PH' airs every Sunday, 10:30 a.m. on GTV beginning June 8.
