Epson Philippines highlights collaboration and sustainability at Fusion 16
Epson Philippines recently hosted the 16th edition of Fusion—its annual media appreciation event—held from May 28 to 30 at the scenic Misibis Bay Resort in Albay. This year’s gathering centered around the theme of forging meaningful partnerships to drive innovation, sustainability, and social impact.
Masako Kusama, president and director of Epson Philippines Corporation, opened the event with a keynote centered on EcoSynergy, a concept that embodies Epson’s commitment to combining innovation with purpose. “EcoSynergy reflects the idea that real progress happens when innovation moves in step with shared purpose,” she said. “It’s how Epson brings people, technology, and sustainability together.”
Kusama also underscored Epson’s guiding principle, Engineered for Good, which shapes how the company designs products, operates its business, and supports environmental efforts. “We focus on reducing energy use, extending product life, and choosing materials that are safer for the environment. Engineered for Good reflects the role we want to play in the world,” she added.
Celebrating Milestones and Innovation
Noelle Gonzalez, marketing division head, shared Epson’s continued market leadership across eight major product categories and its strong double-digit growth. She also emphasized Epson’s ongoing fight against counterfeit ink products and introduced new customer-centric value-added services.
Russer Cabrera, senior manager for product marketing, presented recent product and service updates that enable smarter and more sustainable business operations. Highlights included regional holograms to prevent counterfeit products, the expanded CoverPlus warranty program, and new solutions for education and self-service systems. He also showcased Epson’s large-format printers designed for textile and signage applications, affirming the brand’s dominance in this space.
Newly introduced leaders included Julia Avila, OIC for product marketing of corporate products, and Ash Elshawbaki, senior manager for corporate and government and channel sales departments. Their presence reinforced Epson’s dedication to building stronger customer partnerships.
Driving Toward a Sustainable Future
Sustainability remained a key focus at Fusion 16. EJ Sulit, Epson’s sustainability champion, outlined the company’s global environmental roadmap, which includes becoming carbon negative by 2050 and transitioning to 100% renewable energy use across all global operations. Notably, this includes Epson’s largest manufacturing site, located in Batangas, Philippines.
Sulit also highlighted the ICLEAN Project, a collaboration with WWF-Philippines in Monreal, Ticao Island. The initiative supports local waste management efforts and introduced a plastic shredder that significantly boosted eco-brick production.
“These eco-bricks each contain about 500 grams of plastic that might otherwise pollute marine environments,” Sulit explained. “The municipality now produces over 300 bricks monthly, showing how localized innovation can drive real change.”
Strengthening Media and Community Bonds
Ed Bonoan, sales division head, expressed deep gratitude to the media for their unwavering support. “We’re grateful for your continued partnership in sharing our stories,” he said.
The three-day event also featured a series of engaging activities that fostered camaraderie between media partners and Epson executives. Through friendly competitions and team-building challenges, participants celebrated shared goals and strengthened ties—underscoring the belief that collaboration is key to shaping a responsible and innovative future.
