DOLE: Strengthened regional offices crucial to effective public service

Empowered and well-aligned field operations are key to upholding transparency, enhancing accountability, and ensuring efficient service delivery for Filipino workers nationwide, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Friday, Jun. 13.
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the department’s ability to meet the needs of workers largely depends on the capacity and coordination of its regional offices during a dialogue with personnel of DOLE Regional Office V in Bicol last week.
“We really want to empower our regional offices because most of the department’s work revolves around you,” Laguesma told employees.
He emphasized that effective communication—within the organization and with the public—is essential to building trust and delivering quality service.
“How we communicate, explain, and respond to public concerns is crucial. That’s why we’re making another round of visits—to connect directly with you and ensure we speak with one voice,” he said.
The department said strengthening regional operations forms part of its broader commitment to making employment facilitation, livelihood support, and labor protection programs more timely, accessible, and responsive across the country.
