The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) identified the suspect as “Gerald,” 28, listed as the province's most wanted person.
Authorities said the warrant was served to Gerald inside the Custodial Facility-Male Dormitory of the San Mateo Municipal Police Station in Barangay Guitnang Bayan 1 on June 10, following his arrest on June 4 for illegal drugs and gambling.
The warrant, issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 75, San Mateo, Rizal, on June 28, 2016, was for two counts of sexual abuse with a recommended bail of P400,000.
Based on the investigation, Gerald allegedly raped and sexually abused his then 13-year-old second cousin in January 2016.
However, the suspect denied the accusation and said he would explain his side in court.
The suspect remains under the custody of the San Mateo MPS while legal proceedings are being arranged for filing against him.
Rizal PPO Director Col. Felipe Maraggun emphasized that the arrest was a result of their relentless and dedicated efforts to pursue the province’s most wanted individuals.
