Congressman-elect Barzaga unapologetic about pro-'posacat' stance

Incoming Cavite 4th district Rep. Francis "Kiko" Barzaga doubled down on his pro-animal advocacy despite his tendency to be ridiculed for it and his eccentricity in general on social media.

On Thursday night, June 12, Barzaga, who will represent Dasmariñas City in Congress, responded to a comment made by a certain Dekdek Paloma through a "quote card" on Facebook.

"Kawawa naman ang Dasma...ano kaya gagawin nito sa Congress? (Dasma is pitiful...what would this do in Congress?)" read the comment allegedly made by Paloma, in reference to the Barzaga.

The congressman-elect's response: "Gagawa ako ng mga batas para sa mga stray asodogs at posacats (I will create laws for stray dogs and cats)."

This rather unapologetic remark was consistent with Barzaga's fondness for felines and canines, especially the former.

Despite his eccentricity, the 26-yea-old appear to be personable, articulate, and well-liked in his district.

He is the son of his predecessor, the late Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr.
