BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-10 recorded 112 violators in the five-month election gun ban in Northern Mindanao.
112 violators nabbed in 5-month gun ban in Northern Mindanao
“We are happy to present to you our significant accomplishments in its implementation of 2025 NLE in Northern Mindanao region,” said PRO 10-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Joann G. Navarro on Thursday, June 12.
Navarro said different units under PRO-10 apprehended 112 violators, confiscated 104 assorted firearms, and recovered 795 rounds of ammunition across Northern Mindanao from Jan. 12 to June 11.
PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman commended the efforts of all police units in the region for their dedication in enforcing the gun ban and securing the integrity of the recent elections.
“Although the gun ban has officially ended, carrying firearms without proper documentation remains strictly prohibited,” he said.
De Guzman said the conclusion of the Commission on Elections gun ban does not give anyone the right to possess or carry firearms unlawfully.
He reminded the public that all individuals must still comply with national laws governing firearm ownership and possession. These include securing a valid License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and a Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR).
“Any firearm found in the possession of a person without these legal requirements will be considered illegal and may lead to arrest and legal charges.”
“We urge all residents of Northern Mindanao to be responsible gun owners. All firearms must have complete and valid documents to avoid legal consequences and prevent their misuse in criminal activities,” De Guzman added.
PRO-10 encouraged the public to report individuals in possession of undocumented or illegal firearms to the police.
