Top junior tennis players gear up for the 2025 UTP National Championships: Elite Eight Playoffs that San Carlos City, Negros Occidental is hosting from June 11 to 16.
The tournament, organized by United Tennis Philippines headed by its president Jean Henri Lhuillier, gathers top four players each from Luzon/National Capital Region and Visayas-Mindanao (VisMin) to compete in the boys and girls 12-, 14-, 16-, 18-under and 10-unisex divisions.
A total of 72 players are competing in the round-robin format leading to the championship matches.
“The Elite Eight Playoffs has always been a showcase of the best young tennis talent from across the country,” said Lhuillier, also the CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier. “It reflects UTP’s continuing mission to discover and nurture future champions through grassroots sports development.”
The tournament is supported by Cebuana Lhuillier Sports, a long-running advocacy that supports grassroots development and national excellence across various sports disciplines, including tennis. Through initiatives like the UTP Elite Eight Playoffs, Cebuana Lhuillier continues to empower young Filipino athletes by giving them the opportunity to compete, grow, and pursue success on the international stage.
The tournament also serves as the final selection for the team that will be competing in an international competition in Malaysia later this year.
“This is more than just a tournament—it’s a celebration of the hard work, passion, and discipline these young athletes have shown throughout the year. We are proud to support their journey and give them a platform to shine on the international stage,” Lhuillier said.
