The building of Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed) turned red on Tuesday night, June 10, as it called on the public to donate blood after the hospital recorded a low supply in its blood bank.
"The hospital is currently low on blood supply. We urgently need donors to save lives. If anyone wishes to donate, our Blood Bank is open Monday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. One donation can save up to three lives. Thank you for being a hero," the hospital management said.
Located at #2 Amorsolo Street in Legazpi Village, Makati City, MakatiMed had set up red lights on its building signage. Once the lights are on, they signify that the hospital has a blood supply shortage.
The lights also call on interested blood donors to share their blood with patients who are in need.
Donors who wish to donate blood may go directly to the hospital, or call 8888-8999 local 3016. They may also email the hospital's blood bank at [email protected] for other information and queries.
MakatiMed said blood donors need to present a valid ID with a picture and undergo a screening test to determine if they are qualified to donate.
