LTO: 32 driving schools suspended, fined with up to P1 M for various road safety infractions

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) penalized 32 driving schools in Central Luzon and Metro Manila with up to six-month suspension and P1 million fine for involvement in various anomalous transactions in relation to the issuance of theoretical and practical driving course certificates.

In Central Luzon, LTO regional director Ronnie Montejo said a total of 17 driving schools were penalized along with seven driving instructors while another driving school is currently under preventive suspension pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation into its alleged infractions.

“The agency continues to conduct regular audits, inspections, and validation checks to ensure that all accredited driving schools and medical clinics adhere to the highest standards of integrity and public trust,” said Montejo.

In Metro Manila, LTO regional director Roque Verzosa III said a total of 15 driving schools were penalized also for various offenses relating to anomalous issuance of TDC and PDC.

Verzosa said 17 motor vehicle dealers and importers, and four medical clinics were also sanctioned after they were found to be in violation of existing rules and regulations.

“This enforcement action is part of the agency’s continuing efforts to ensure accountability, compliance, and integrity among all its accredited stakeholders—and we will not stop,” said Verzosa.

“These measures reflect the agency's commitment to upholding the credibility of licensing and registration processes and protecting the welfare of the motoring public,” he added.
