Congresswoman-elect Leila de Lima of Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list gave props to the House quad-committee (quad-comm) for performing its mandate.

This, as the quad-comm, led by its overall chairman Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, sponsored its final committee report in plenary on Tuesday night, June 10.

"The quad-comm investigation uncovered a conspiracy to destroy our country with the vices of gambling, illegal drugs, and corruption of public officials by Chinese mafias and Filipino traitors," De Lima, a former senator, wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday.

"For this alone, the quad-comm hearings serve as a milestone in legislative inquiries," she said.

Since August 2024, the quad-comm has been looking into the alleged interconnected issues of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), extrajudicial killings (EJKs), money-laundering, illegal drugs, and former president Rodrigo Duterte's bloody war on drugs.

The mega panel officially ended its probe Monday, June 9 after carrying out 15 marathon hearings.

The highest profile witness or resource person who attended the series of gripping hearings held by the quad-comm was ex-president Duterte himself. This particular hearing was viewed by 1.9 million people on the House of Representatives' official livestream.
