The Gen Z squad is back, and their world just got a whole lot more complicated. Following a dramatic dorm fire, the MAKA barkada is forced to forge a new beginning in an unexpected place: MAKA-B (Maka Boardinghouse).

But as they navigate this fresh start, old friendships and new challenges collide in MAKA: Next Chapter, which premiered last June 7 at 4:45 PM on GMA.

Making this new season even exciting is the return of Sparkle artist Josh Ford.Just as the MAKA barkada begins to settle in, the arrival of their old friend Josh Taylor (Ford) throws their world into a spin.

Soon, the entire MAKA squad, including some familiar "rich kids," decides to move into the boarding house together, setting the stage for a season filled with unexpected twists and turns.

However, this fresh beginning comes with new challenges, as new characters, played by Gladys Reyes and Jennie Gabriel, join the picture. A formidable matriarch, Miss Chinchin (Reyes) rules MAKA-B with an iron grip, being strict, old-school, and utterly intolerant of teenage drama.'

Adding to the mystery is Miss Chinchin’s sweet-but-suspicious sister, Ms. Alelie (Gabriel). Together, the sisters harbor a secret that threatens to unravel everything the barkada thought they knew about each other and themselves.

As the group adjusts to life under Miss Chinchin’s watchful eye, they'll contend with more than just house rules. Old rivalries will intensify, dormant feelings will resurface, and personal truths will be put to the ultimate test.

MAKA: Next Chapter delves into relevant teen issues such as love, friendship, identity, and the universal search for meaning, all while the barkada strives to stay united in a home where nothing is ever what it seems.

The series features a talented ensemble cast, including Zephanie, Marco Masa, Ashley Sarmiento, Josh Ford, Elijah Alejo, Chanty, John Clifford, Olive May, Shan Vesagas, Sean Lucas, Bryce Eusebio, Bangus Girl, Jennie Gabriel, and Ms. Gladys Reyes.

Olive: Gusto ko ng power related sa ice, as in favorite ko talaga ang Frozen. (I want a power related to ice, as in I like Frozen.)

JC: Ako naman, teleportation talaga, para at least okay lang kahit late ako gumising ‘pag nasa taping ako. (As for me, teleportation is really important, so at least it's okay even if I wake up late when I'm taping.)

JC: Hirap! Iba-iba kasi eh. Sige, OPM naman tayo. MAKA.

Olive: Last month, parang may na-meet po ako na kakilala ko sa isang grocery, tapos tinatawag niya ako, 'Olive!' sabi niya. Bineso niya ako tapos bineso ko rin siya. Tapos habang binebeso niya ako, sabi niya sakin, 'Sorry ang baho ko.' Sabi ko, 'Okay lang.' Pero gusto ko sabihin na, 'Uy, hindi naman.' Pero nasabi ko, 'Okay lang,' tapos tumalikod na ako kasi wala na ako masabi. (Last month, I think I met someone I know at a grocery store, and he called me, 'Olive!' he said. He kissed me and I kissed him back. Then while he was kissing me, he said to me, 'Sorry I smell bad.' I said, 'It's okay.' But I wanted to say, 'Hey, it's not.' But I said, 'It's okay,' and then I turned around because I had nothing more to say.)

JC: Nag All Out Sundays ako, tapos, everytime kasi na lumalabas ako ng All Out Sundays, sobrang daming nakaabang na supporters, nagpapa-picture. Parang tumatak na sa mind ko ‘yung, “Pwede pa-picture?” Next day, nangyari ‘yun sa mall. Parang may nagsabi na “Pwede pa-picture?” tapos akala ko picture kasama ako. ‘Yung gusto pala nila, ako ‘yung mag-picture sa kanila. (I did All Out Sundays, and then, every time I went out on All Out Sundays, there were so many supporters waiting, taking pictures. It was like something stuck in my mind, 'Can I take a picture?' The next day, it happened at the mall. It was like someone said, 'Can I take a picture?' and I thought it was a picture with me. It turned out that what they wanted was for me to take a picture with them.)

JC: Gusto ko makapunta sa Europe talaga, kasi hindi pa ‘ko nakakapunta ng Europe. Asian countries lang napuntahan ko. (I really want to go to Europe, because I've never been to Europe. I've only been to Asian countries.)

Olive: Gusto ko sa Japan, kasi anime fan ako. So gusto ko makita ‘yung mga places doon. ‘Yung food nila rin. (I like Japan, because I'm an anime fan. So I want to see the places there. Their food, too.)

Olive: Ako, si Zephanie, tapos kakanta ako every day. (Zephanie, and I sing every day.)

JC: Ako, gusto ko ma-try ‘yung boses ni Ruru Madrid. ‘Yung sobrang baba talaga, ‘yung pang-action star talaga na boses. Ang angas ko siguro ‘pag ganun ‘yung boses ko. (I want to try Ruru Madrid's voice. That really deep, action star voice. I'd probably be so arrogant if my voice was like that.)

JC: Siguro ipa-prank ko ‘yung mga kaibigan ko sa bahay nila, tapos gagalawin ko ‘yung bagay para matakot sila. (Maybe I'll prank my friends at their house, then I'll move the thing to scare them.)

Olive: Ako, sasakay ako sa plane pa-Japan, kasi invisible ako. (I'm going to get on a plane to Japan, because I'm invisible.)

Olive: Justin Bieber. Bieber fan talaga ako. 

JC: Si Megan Fox, kasi napanood ko siya noong bata ako sa Transformers.

Olive: I think that life was before the pandemic. Parang iba lang kasi talaga. Like ‘yung Christmas, iba ‘yung feeling before pandemic. (I think that life before the pandemic. It just seems different. Like Christmas, the feeling before the pandemic was different.)

JC: Ako rin. Christmas times before, ‘yung magkakasama pa ‘yung families. (Me too. Christmas times before, when families were still together.)

Olive: MAKA cast

JC: Oo naman, bakit tayo lalayo pa. S’yempre, MAKA cast. Dahil hindi tayo selfish, mag-share tayo, bigyan natin ng project ‘yung isa’t isa.

JC: Si Olive kasi parang may strong personality nung time na ‘yun kasi dancer siya. Pero ang galing nya sumayaw like grabe talaga. Talo niya pa ‘yung mga boys sa sayaw sa ganyan. (Olive seemed to have a strong personality at that time because she was a dancer. But her dancing skills were really great. She even beat the boys at dancing like that.)

Olive: Magaling din siya sumayaw. Pero first impression ko sa kanya, nonchalant, tahimik, suplado. Since sobrang tahimik mo, parang akala ko anti-social ka. (He's also a good dancer. But my first impression of him was that he was nonchalant, quiet, and reserved. Since you're so quiet, I thought you were anti-social.)
