The Senate suspended on Tuesday, June 10 its plenary session to convene as an impeachment court.
Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero made the motion a few minutes after Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, a staunch ally of Vice President Sara Duterte issued a privilege speech to push for the dismissal of the impeachment complaint against her.
Escudero ruled that Dela Rosa’s privilege speech and all other motions related to the impeachment complaint be tackled by members of the Senate as an impeachment court.
Escudero banged the gavel to give the senators until 6:15 p.m. to don their impeachment robes, after which they will convene as an impeachment trial court.
