In a Facebook post, Duterte's office said that the free shuttle ride has been launched on Monday, June 9, for commuters in Tacloban City.
“Layunin ng OVP na mas makapagbigay ng mas madali, libre, at accessible na biyahe para sa ating mga Filipino commuters (The goal of the OVP is to provide an easy, free, and accessible commute for our Filipino commuters),” the statement read.
The free shuttle ride program was launched on Aug. 3, 2022, with nine “Libreng Sakay” buses servicing Metro Manila, Naic-Cavite, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, and Tacloban.
In Metro Manila, two of the four “Libreng Sakay” buses are currently plying the EDSA Carousel route—from Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to Monumento.
Meanwhile, the two other buses are plying the Quiapo-Commonwealth Avenue route.
All the OVP Libreng Sakay buses are fully airconditioned and equipped with basic necessities such as portable toilet, charging ports, and free Wi-Fi connection.
