The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will lead the 127th anniversary celebration of Philippine Independence and Nationhood on June 12, 2025, at Rizal Park, Luneta, with the theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”
The program will begin at 7 a.m. with a flag-raising ceremony led by President Marcos at the Independence Flagpole near the Rizal National Monument.
This will be followed by wreath-laying rites, where the President will be joined by NHCP Chairperson Regalado Trota Jose Jr. and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. The AFP will also provide arrival and departure honors.
After the commemorative rites, the Parada ng Kalayaan 2025 will take place, showcasing key historical moments in the nation’s struggle for freedom and various regional festival performances.
“This year will also include a showcase of select Philippine festivals from the regions,” the NHCP said in a statement.
In the evening, Musikal III: Ang Tanghalan at Ang Kalayaan will be staged at the Metropolitan Theater, featuring top Filipino artists.
Simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies will also be held at other historic landmarks, including the Dambanang Emilio Aguinaldo in Cavite, Barasoain Church in Malolos City, Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine in San Juan City, Mausoleo de los Veteranos de la Revolucion in Manila North Cemetery, Andres Bonifacio National Monument in Caloocan City, and the Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas in Angeles City, Pampanga.
“Flag-raising rites will also be done in all twenty-eight (28) NHCP museums, local government units across the country, and in all Philippine embassies abroad,” the NHCP added.
From June 10 to 11, Mga Pampamahalaang Programa at Serbisyo will feature over 50 government agencies and offices in nearly 150 booths offering public services and showcasing their programs.
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo, led by the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Trade and Industry, will sell fresh produce. At the same time, Klinikalayaan 2025 will offer free medical, dental, and optical services.
The AFP and other uniformed services will also mount a Static Display during the two-day event.
On June 5, Musikalayaan 2025 brought uniformed personnel to the stage, while the Parada ng Pag-anyaya, a parade of firefighters through Manila’s major roads, was held on June 8.
