Marcos says 'it's very clear' VP Sara's impeachment will continue to 20th Congress
President Marcos said the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte will clearly continue in the 20th Congress even if it starts in the 19th Congress, stressing that there is no controversy in it.

"What is the controversy? It is very clear that it will," Marcos said in an interview on Tuesday, June 10, when asked for his thoughts on the debates whether the impeachment of the vice president would carry on to the next Congress.
"Because there is no way that even if they start the trial now that they will finish it before the new Senators come in. Well, again, the Senators will decide," he added.
The President also maintained his distance from the impeachment trial, saying they are "watching" Senate President Francis Escudero's moves to "make it as peaceful a transition as possible from this Congress to the next."
He stressed that it is the function of the Senate, and he will leave it to them to decide on the trial.
He also cited that it has "been in the Senate for a few months now."
"[T]his is really a function of the Senate right now. So, we leave it to them. It has moved already from the House, it has now been in the Senate for a few months," Marcos said.
"And we are watching of course what the Senate President Chiz Escudero is doing to try to make it as peaceful a transition as possible from this Congress to the next," Marcos added.
