Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the Marcos administration continues to monitor the immigration protests in Los Angeles, adding that the President instructed concerned government agencies to provide assistance to affected Filipinos.
"Sa ngayon po ang administrasyong Marcos, sa pamamagitan po ng DFA at ng Philippine Consulate sa L.A. patuloy pong mino-monitor ang mga recent immigration enforcement and protest (At present, the Marcos administration, through the DFA and the Philippine Consulate in L.A., is continuously monitoring the recent immigration enforcement and protests)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Tuesday, June 10.
"At ang tagubilin po ng Pangulo, bigyan ng assistance ang bawat Pilipino lalung-lalo na po kung sila po ay nakabase o nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa (The President has instructed that assistance be given to every Filipino, especially those who are based or working abroad)," Castro added.
The President, however, urged Filipinos abroad to follow their host country's laws amid the ongoing immigration protests.
"Pero pinapaalalahanan din po sila na sumunod po sa batas ng bansa kung saan po sila nakatira o nagtatrabaho (However, they are also reminded to obey the laws of the country where they live or work)," the Palace official said.
On June 9, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles strongly advised Filipinos to "exercise caution and vigilance in view of the ongoing immigration protests taking place in downtown Los Angeles."
The Philippine Consulate urged them to "avoid any crowd build-ups that may lead to disturbances."
