ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development assured budget for medical and burial assistance in Western Visayas region.
The agency made the assurance after reports claimed that the DSWD-6 has stopped Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), particularly medical and burial cash assistance, as the budget has been depleted.
These are not true, the DSWD said.
“Gusto namon nga klaruhon ini, indi matuod (We want to clarify, it’s not true),” said DSWD-6 Assistant Regional Director Katherine Joy Lamprea.
“Padayon ang paghatag sang bulig sang DSWD Region 6 sa mga eligible nga benepisyaryo, labi na gid sa medical kag burial assistance (DSWD-Region 6 is continuing to provide assistance to eligible beneficiaries, especially medical and burial assistance),” added Lamprea.
Lampera said the amount of financial assistance provided to beneficiaries is based on the assessments made by social worker and follows DSWD’s existing guidelines and procedures.
“Once again, we urge the public not to immediately believe any unconfirmed information,” Lamprea said.
The DSWD-6 said that those who are in need of medical and burial assistance can be assessed by social workers in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
