- A repeat offender, with illegal gambling and possession of firearm cases filed against him, was re-arrested by members of the Pasay City Police, this time, for theft.
Operatives of the Pasay City Police Station Intelligence Section re-arrested a man who was charged with illegal gambling and possession of a firearm in 2022 and 2024, this time for the crime of theft on Monday, June 9.
Col. Joselito De Sesto, Pasay City Police chief, said the suspect, Cedrick, 21, was arrested at around 11:55 p.m. inside the Pasay City Public Cemetery located in Sgt. Mariano St., Barangay 148, Pasay City.
De Sesto said Cedrick was identified as the suspect who went viral on a Facebook page uploaded by Daizy Vibes Vlog on June 4, after he was seen with the victim, identified as Mark Joseph, walking along EDSA near Red Hotel in Barangay 147. He was seen opening the victim's small bag and taking his wallet with P535 cash.
He said the arrest of Cedrick was made after members of the SIS conducted a surveillance and a follow-up operation following a report that a group of men were reportedly conducting illegal gambling inside the cemetery.
The city police chief said that, Cedrick, upon his arrest, admitted that he was the pickpocket in the incident that went viral on Facebook.
De Sesto said Cerick was arrested for illegal gambling on October 12, 2022, and for illegal gambling and violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act on June 7, 2024.
He said the suspect is now detained at the Pasay City Police custodial facility and was charged with theft.
