Quezon 2nd district Rep. David "Jay-jay" Suarez on Monday, June 9, said the number of lawmakers who signed the manifesto of support for House Speaker Martin Romualdez was proof that there was unity among House members.
Suarez responds to Frasco's tirade vs House, says there's unity among congressmen
This was in response to Cebu 5th district Rep. Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco's claim that the House leadership has compromised unity when he said in a Facebook post that "The unity our people once hoped for has been steadily undermined by political and personal interests."
"At this critical time in our nation, I believe we need leadership in the House that unites rather than divides," Frasco also said.
In response, Suarez, who is also a House deputy speaker, says the 285 congressmen who have signed the manifesto of support for Romualdez "is a true sign of unity".
"If you look at the support that Speaker Romualdez has garnered and continues to maintain—285 congressmen have the signed the manifesto support," Suarez said in a chance interview.
"And I think that is a true sign of unity when it comes to the members of House of Represetnatives, wherein we want continuity, we want true leadership that can address the issues being faced by our country," he added.
