Government anti-narcotics authorities seized on Sunday, June 8, around P816 million worth of shabu during an interdiction operation in Pasig City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stated.
In a statement, the PDEA said authorities intercepted approximately 120 kilograms of suspected shabu concealed in inbound parcels at a cargo warehouse during the 2 p.m. operation.
The intercepted parcels were shipped from multiple addresses in California, USA and were “ingeniously packed’’ inside assorted chip boxes.
Further, the PDEA noted that each box contained vacuum-sealed, transparent plastic packets filled with “white crystalline substances.’’
“The parcels were addressed to multiple consignees in Taguig, Pasig, and Makati City, and were undeclared upon arrival,’’ the PDEA noted.
The result of the Raman Spectroscopy tests on all the confiscated substances tested positive for shabu, “confirming the high-grade purity of the illegal drug.’’
While no suspects were “apprehended at this stage,’’ the PDEA said that the interdiction has laid the groundwork for an ongoing and broader investigation.
PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez said the interdiction success is a product of strong collaboration between PDEA and our law enforcement partners.
Nerez called on the public to remain “vigilant and report any suspicious packages or drug-related activities as “reports may be made anonymously through the agency’s official social media platforms or via the hotlines
