Lieutenant General Roy Galido, commanding general of the Philippine Army (PA), achieved a rare feat after obtaining an honorary badge from the Naval Special Operations Command (NAVSOCOM) in a symbolic display of inter-service unity.

Galido visited the headquarters of the NAVSOCOM at the Naval Base Heracleo Alano in Sangley Point, Cavite over the weekend where he broke the mold of traditional visits as he not only shook hands and gave speeches but also joined the rigorous training drills of the Philippine Navy’s most elite warriors.

In his address to officers and enlisted personnel, Galido stressed the importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, and leadership by example.

“If we want to serve our country well, we should always do our best. Inspire your juniors to push beyond their comfort zones,” he said.'

The Army chief also emphasized the critical role of senior military personnel in inspiring their subordinates.

If we want to serve our country well, we should always do our best. Always inspire your juniors to always perform more and to go out of their comfort zone,” he added.

According to the Army, Galido’s visit to the NAVSOCOM underscored the continuing cooperation between different branches of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

NAVSOCOM is a separate command of the Philippine Navy composed of personnel trained in special operations, sabotage, and psychological and unconventional warfare across sea, air, and land domains.
