ILOILO CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd) has released P4.19 million in aid to restore part of a school in Alimodian town, Iloilo province damaged by a fire on June 2.

DepEd Undersecretary Atty. Peter Irving C. Corvera led the turnover of a check for the Alimodian National Comprehensive High School (ANCHS).
DepEd-6 Regional Director Cristito Eco and DepEd Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Dr. Ernesto F. Servillon Jr. applauded the quick response of the DepEd Central Office to release funding, especially that the new school year is set to open on June 16.
The fire damaged around 14 rooms, including five classrooms, school canteen, clinic, band room, supply room, TLE office, and MAPEH office.
School principal Romar Cubin said that part of the gym was also damaged in the fire.
The amount will be used to construct temporary rooms with water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities.
The money will also be used to procure new teachers kits and play kits for students.
Iloilo Rep. Michael Gorriceta and Mayor Ian Kenneth Alfeche of Alimodian vowed additional funding to help the school rebuild.
