Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, confirmed that four suspects were involved in the incident.
The 23-year-old Mickova was found dead inside an abandoned chapel in Malay town.
Two out of the four suspects are in police custody.
“The two were arrested on separate charges while the other two are still at large,” Wanky said.
Last week, the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) under Police Col. Arnel Ramos reported that a case of rape with homicide was filed last May 30 by the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG).
But the Ramos-led SITG refused to give further details, including the number of suspects. In its official statement, the Aklan police said there were “multiple” suspects.
The SITG also did not clarify who these suspects were in context of the early investigations.
But Wanky said the suspects have been identified as persons of interest earlier by the Malay police.
Wanky also said that one of them, who was arrested in an anti-drug operation, issued an affidavit claiming he had knowledge of the crime.
The other suspect was arrested for illegal possession of firearm.
Wanky remains optimistic that the two remaining suspects would be caught soon and there would be justice for Mickova.
