Councilor now Mayor-elect Richard Jaojoco said that this initiative is aimed at preventing any commotion during a fiesta, after he observed cases of alarm and scandal in such occasion in barangays or puroks involving young people.
“We are doing this to show to the public that we are serious and that we will be filing cases against basaguleros (troublesome person),” he added.
On June 6, the local police posted on its Facebook page that a concerned citizen was given a P10,000 cash reward by the local government for the arrest of a suspect for violating Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code (Alarm and Scandal) while the town was preparing for the three-day fiesta.
Jaojoco said that they will start to implement the measure during the annual fiesta from June 11 to 13.
“I was thinking to do this every fiesta,” Jaojoco said, adding that the local government is spending millions for the people to celebrate and enjoy the occasion but there are those who would ruin the festive atmosphere with their unruly behavior.
He said that their municipal peace action team was briefed and trained of their roles not just in peace and order but also in providing basic life support.
