Last Monday, June 2, some 250 individuals trooped to the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) Animal Bite Center for rabies vaccination.
PET owners avail of the Zamboanga City Veterinarian's Office anti-rabies vaccination program.
Nearly 300 patients sought the anti-rabies vaccination two days prior, said ZCMC PIO Dr. Shadrina Sarapuddin.
Sarapuddin said some of the patients were bitten by animals, mostly dogs, the previous year.
They admitted rushing to the center to undergo vaccination after seeing videos and photos on media of rabies victims exhibiting symptoms prior to succumbing to the disease.
Although medical practitioners have lauded the success in anti-rabies propaganda, they expressed concern over the dwindling supply of anti-rabies vaccines here which have reportedly become a problem due to the influx of patients.
