Security ramped up for 260 foreign students in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office is ramping up security measures in preparation for the arrival of over 260 foreign students between June and August here, following a request from the Language Skills Learning Center (LSLC) for increased police visibility to ensure their safety.

The City Tourism Office, BCPO, and LSLC held a meeting to finalize safety protocols for the growing number of international students coming here to study English.
Police Lt. Col. Joery Puerto of the Community Affairs Division said that regular patrols will be implemented and police assistance desks will be established in key locations, particularly during nighttime to maintain a secure and welcoming environment.
Puerto said that 46 police personnel will be deployed for this initiative and they will conduct 24-hour patrols in billeting areas and maintain a strong street presence, ready to respond to any incident.
These incoming students from South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and China and will be accommodated in areas such as La Salle Ave., North Drive, and 17th to 18th Streets.
Puerto said the enhanced security coverage will run for two months from June 29 to Aug. 30.
While this highly-urbanized city is already known for its peace and order, the LSLC noted that this collaboration ensures an even more secure and supportive environment for learners.
A safe, welcoming city helps students thrive and positions Bacolod as a rising hub for global education, the LSLC said.
