Lone gunman fatally shoots barangay kagawad in Laguna

SINILOAN, Laguna – A 51-year-old barangay kagawad or councilor was gunned down in Barangay Llavac here on Saturday noon, June 7.
Police identified the victim as Rin, kagawad of Barangay Llavac.
Investigation said the victim was driving a motorcycle when the suspect who was wearing white jacket, black helmet, and driving a motorcycle, appeared and shot him three times in the back.
The victim died on the spot and the suspect fled towards the town proper.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
Meanwhile, a 64-year-old man drowned on a stream in Barangay Cabuyew, this town, on Saturday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Apolinario, a resident of Barangay Yukos here.
Investigation said the victim and his relative Ado went fishing.
Ado went home after a few hours and found out that Apolinario was not yet home, prompting the victim’s relatives to seek the assistance of barangay officials to look for him.
The victim’s body was recovered and taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Police said the victim suffered a mild stroke and had difficulty walking.
