- There is no question for Jordan Heading that he could ease his way to the system of TNT and it's only a matter of when he can finally join his new team.
The Fil-Aussie gunner, who was acquired by the Tropang 5G through a trade with Converge in exchange of Mikey Williams' rights, was on the sidelines when his team rolled to a sixth straight victory after 108-82 victory over Blackwater.
“I think it’s gonna be a pretty seamless fit in terms of them already having an identity and a culture that obviously wins championships,” said Heading.
“So I don’t need to come in here and try to change anything. I just need to come in here and do my role and complement these guys, and try to make their lives just a little bit easier.”
The addition of Heading is seen to greatly boost the Grand Slam aspirations of the Tropang 5G especially that they are missing the services of Jayson Castro and Rey Nambatac due to injuries.
Heading, however, remained day-to-day as he’s still recovering from a back injury though he had already participated in the practice of the Tropang 5G.
“He is really day-to-day because, number one, he still has that back injury that he is still trying to recover from. And number two, he has been inactive for a long time. Hindi ganun kadali. But he has been able to join a little bit of our practice, not yet completely full-contact practice,” said TNT head coach Chot Reyes.
With this, Heading could miss the marquee duel between TNT and Ginebra. But Reyes is fine by it as they are not rushing Heading’s return as the team aims to play the long game.
“We are not rushing it. And my mentality, our team’s mentality is to play the last two games with who we have. If Jordan can join us, that’s great. But if not, we have to figure out a way to win with the team and the players that we have,” said Reyes.
