ILOILO CITY – A teacher has apologized for maligning lawmen stationed in Barotac Nuevo town, Iloilo province online.
“I would like to extend my sincerest public apology to all the policemen I mentioned earlier in my post. I admit that I made a false accusation against them,” said John Rey Decipulo Enoy, a computer teacher for a private school.
“I acknowledge that the accusation was not true,” added Enoy in a statement released Saturday, June 7.
Enoy claimed that lawmen who responded to an incident before dawn on Saturday were intoxicated and using their status as police officers to harass people.
“We take such defamatory acts seriously and reserve our right and remedies in accordance with existing laws protecting public servants from false and malicious accusations,” said the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station (MPS) in a statement.
The Barotac Nuevo MPS said that cops who responded to the incident remained professional while being provoked.
“The officers confronted the individuals to ensure their safety, uphold public order, and remind them of legal and community standards,” the Barotac Nuevo MPS emphasized.
“It is deeply concerning that instead of cooperating, the said teacher resorted to defamation through social media, spreading false information that unjustly discredits our personnel and distracts from the real issue at hand: A trusted educator engaging in highly questionable behavior with minors,” police said.
