A 25-year-old woman was injured on Friday morning, June 6, after slipping on a footbridge in Quiapo, Manila, amid heavy rain.

The woman was reportedly on her way to Quiapo Church for Friday Mass when she lost her footing while crossing the footbridge at around 4:30 p.m.
Witnesses said surface became slippery due to the ongoing downpour.
In an interview with Manila Bulletin, she said she was walking carefully but still slipped due to the wet surface.
“Papunta lang ako sa simbahan. Hindi ko inakala na ganun kabilis akong madudulas.” (I was just going to church. I didn’t expect to slip that quickly).
The victim sustained minor injuries, including bruises and a suspected shoulder sprain. She was assisted by bystanders and later brought to the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
Local vendors and passersby raised concerns about the safety of the footbridge, especially during the rainy season. “Hindi ito ang unang beses na may nadulas dito, lalo na ‘yung mga matatanda (This isn’t the first time someone has slipped here, especially the elderly) ,” said one vendor.
“Pwede mas lumala pa to, buti ganito lang inabot ko (This could’ve gotten worse, good thing this is all I ended up with),” the victim added.
