Strong winds, heavy rain topple electric posts in Calumpit

Several electric posts were felled in Barangay Bulusan, Calumpit, Bulacan, after more than an hour of heavy rainfall and strong winds on Friday afternoon, June 6.

Calumpit Mayor Lem Faustino said the posts collapsed during the downpour, causing power outages in several villages along the Calumpit-Hagonoy Road. 
Many residents spent the night without electricity.
As of now, Meralco linemen are working to reinstall the electric posts. Power is slowly being restored in some barangays.
Faustino advised residents to follow the local government’s official Facebook page for updates. 
She also asked them to report any power issues in their area so Meralco can respond quickly.
The mayor added that she was thankful that no vehicles were on the road when the posts fell.
 "Napakalakas ng buhos ng ulan, kaya nakasilong at nagpahinga ang mga biyahero (The downpour was heavy so the travelers took shelter and rested)," she said.
