Bus rams barriers as driver falls asleep; fuel leak leaves road slippery in Marikina

Motorists and bikers passing through the area are still being advised to proceed with caution, as the road remains slightly slippery despite sawdust being spread over the leaked fuel to prevent further accidents.

A bus rammed several plastic and concrete barriers along Marcos Highway in Marikina City after its driver reportedly fell asleep early Saturday, June 7.

The crash led to a fuel leak, making the road slippery and causing some motorists to skid. Heavy traffic followed as authorities worked to clear the scene.

By 7 a.m., the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had removed the bus in the area.

However, motorists and bikers passing through the area are still being advised to proceed with caution, as the road remains slightly slippery despite sawdust being spread over the leaked fuel to prevent further accidents.

Meanwhile, the MMDA said no one was injured in the accident, as only the driver and conductor were on board the bus, which was en route to Antipolo to pick up passengers.

Authorities are now investigating the incident and the bus driver's condition.
